Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class I Certified Thermal Transfer Ribbons

AG FOIL EUROPE is one of the few European thermal transfer ribbon manufacturers certified under Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 — the world's most recognized label for textiles tested for harmful substances. Our certificates cover both our AGT85 RESIN ribbon and our complete textile care label ribbon range.

Why Oeko-Tex® matters for thermal transfer ribbons

When thermal transfer ribbons are used to print care labels for clothing, baby clothes, bedding, or textile products that touch human skin, the ink transferred onto the label is in direct contact with the wearer. Any harmful substance in the ribbon can migrate to skin during normal use.

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 is the most rigorous European certification testing every component of a textile or printing material for over 1,000 harmful substances — pesticides, heavy metals, formaldehyde, allergenic dyes, organotin compounds, and many more.

Class I is the highest level — items certified for direct contact with babies and infants. AG FOIL EUROPE holds Class I certification for both our thermal transfer ribbon AGT85 and our complete textile care label ribbon range.

Our active Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certificates

Oeko-Tex® certificates are granted on the material level. Because we slit and convert these certified materials in our own facility, every finished product cut from them inherits the certification — regardless of the final width, length, or roll size.

Industries that rely on Oeko-Tex® certified ribbons

    Baby & Children's Wear

Care labels and brand tags for baby clothing, infant bedding, and children's apparel. Class I certification is a regulatory and brand requirement for major European baby-wear retailers.

    Underwear & Intimate Apparel

Garment labels for products with prolonged skin contact. Buyers increasingly request Oeko-Tex® compliance from the entire supply chain.

    Outdoor & Sportswear

Care labels for athletic wear, where labels are exposed to sweat and intense washing. Skin safety and wash resistance must coexist.

    Home Textiles & Bedding

Labels for sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels that contact skin daily over years. EU retailers increasingly mandate Oeko-Tex® certification for shelf placement.

    Hotel & Hospitality Textiles

Industrial laundry tags for hospital, hotel, and restaurant linens. Repeated washing at high temperatures demands certified inks that do not release harmful substances.

    Fashion & Luxury Brands

Premium European fashion brands require their suppliers to hold Oeko-Tex® certification as part of their sustainability and compliance commitments.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class I?

Class I is the highest safety classification under Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. It covers articles intended for direct contact with babies and infants — strollers, baby bedding, baby clothing, and any product where the skin contact is prolonged and the skin is particularly sensitive. Class I has the most stringent limits for harmful substances, applying to fabrics, threads, accessories, prints, and the inks used to print care labels.

Does the Oeko-Tex® certificate cover all widths and lengths of AGT85 ribbon?

Yes. Oeko-Tex® certifies the material itself — in our case, the AGT85 thermal transfer ribbon stock and the textile ribbon fabrics. When we slit master rolls to custom widths (20-300 mm) and lengths (up to 1200 m) on our semi-automatic cutting machines, the resulting rolls inherit the original certification. The slitting process does not add or remove any chemical substance.

Which AG FOIL products are NOT Oeko-Tex® certified?

Our wax (AG7, AG9, AG10), wax-resin (AG31, AG34), and near-edge ribbons (AG15N-AG18N), as well as our coding foils (CFP11, CFP11N) and hot stamping foils, are not currently certified under Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. These products are designed for industrial labeling, packaging, and coding applications where direct skin contact is not the primary use case. If you need Oeko-Tex® certification for a different SKU, please contact us — we can discuss expanding the certification scope.

Can I get a copy of the actual certificate for compliance purposes?

Yes. Both VUTCH-40 and VUTCH-21 are available for direct download on this page. The certificates also list the issuing body (OEKO-TEX® Service GmbH, Zurich), test reports, validity dates, and the precise scope of certification. You can verify the certificates' authenticity at oeko-tex.com using the certificate numbers.

How long are the certificates valid?

Both certificates VUTCH-40 and VUTCH-21 are valid until 30 April 2027. We renew them annually through the accredited testing institute VUTCH s.r.o. (Žilina, Slovakia), an Oeko-Tex® partner laboratory.

What other safety and compliance standards do you comply with?

Beyond Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class I, our products are evaluated against REACH (the EU regulation on chemical safety), SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern list), and POP (Persistent Organic Pollutants). All compliance documentation is available on request for our OEM and B2B partners.
